There is more evidence for Va flags thankfully - surviving fragments and descriptions suggest simple designs with scroll devices (e.g. 'VIII VIRGA REGT') although, as with the famous Alexandria Rifle Company flag from Morgan's XI Va, i suspect these were company or division rather than regimental flags. The unveiling of the Tarleton Waxhaws flags was an eye-opener as it provided hard evidence of a Gostelowe and scroll type division flags being issued to at least one Va regiment (an assumption, but as Buford's detachment was meant to reinforce various Va regiments already in SC then it's a fairly safe one i think).

When all else fails go with the flag you find most attractive.DChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09872820354048836577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6248457192905414765.post-68614563204890761912011-03-11T09:46:12.728-06:002011-03-11T09:46:12.728-06:00I have always found it darn near impossible to fig...I have always found it darn near impossible to figure out what the continentals flags were.Chris Stoesenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07285495844651490795noreply@blogger.com
